A Response to Dr Hunterson’s Letter (#1750/Sept.10th/2026)
I offer my profound thanks to Mike and Keith for nurturing The Island’s Grapevine and creating a vibrant, creative voice for our islands. With regard to Tony Aly’s petitions to abolish The Islands Trust and The Agricultural Land Reserve, I disagree with him wholeheartedly on both these subjects.
In fact, I have suggested to him that his family should plant numerous fruit trees and prepare areas of the land for cultivation. I would then, organize work crews to plant the land and nurture food crops for the Denman Food Bank and other Denmanites who do not live on land that is suitable for the cultivation of food. Needless to say, Tony and his family would be welcome to eat any of the fruits and vegetables produced on their land.
