Thank You for Your Generosity!
After missing last year’s book sale, we were eager to hold DCA’s sale at the Blackberry Fair this past September. This annual event not only supplies many Denman Islanders with their winter reading material, it also is one of the Conservancy’s main fundraisers. Throughout the year, thanks to Denman Island’s many generous book lovers, we had accumulated box loads of great donated books.
So, when Covid-19 caused the cancellation of the Fair for the second year, we were not only disappointed, we were afraid we’d be stuck with a roomful of books! But, after some thought, the Board decided we could follow Covid protocols and hold the event in the Conservancy Room at the Old School. A terrific group of dedicated volunteers came together and sorted books, painted signs, and sorted books again. What followed was a book sale every Saturday morning in the month of September and it was the most successful sale ever!
Thanks to the generosity of Denman Islanders who supported DCA by contributing books and buying books, our sale brought in donations of over $2800. These funds will go towards maintaining conservation lands on Denman Island.
