Wasted, by Thomas Provençal

The single biggest problem
that afflicts the human race
Is the vast amount and volume
of unrecycled waste.
Each one of us contributes
to an oceanic patch
where plastic does accumulate,
no criminals to catch.
Waterways are sewered
to carry off our crud
while we neglect the consequence
of poisoning the mud
where microscopic creatures
who try to do their jobs
are hampered by the human hand
that ignorantly robs
fertility in the biosphere,
omnisciently construed,
then shakes the booty into fire,
feeling proud and rude.
It behooves maturity
to not abuse our home,
nor plastic wrap vitality
and sink it like a stone.
