Hilary Howard passed away at age 77 on March 10, 2021 at 11:50 pm in Courtenay, BC after a valiant fight with cancer.
A long-time resident of Hornby Island, Hilary spent most of her winters traveling to far-flung places like Cuba, Thailand and New Zealand.
Born in England to William Henry Hedley and Jane Hilda Hedley, she held five university degrees including a teaching degree and a doctorate in archeology. She ran the extremely successful Stones Restaurant in Avebury, UK, trained scores of young people and wrote several cookbooks.
A lover of good food (vegetarian) and good wine, photography and writing, Hilary is survived by her daughter Rebecca and her grandsons Jeremy and Christopher.
