Staff, students and families – current, past and future – are thrilled about Blackberry Lane’s
upcoming move into our new early childhood education centre. We are elated that this monumental work has paid off – the fact that there is now a dedicated place for our youngest learners is incredible. So many people have dreamed and imagined and worked and worked and worked to have this happen. But there’s a lot of sadness too. Blackberry Lane has operated out of the Community Hall for over 30 years, and many island children have spent countless hours in that space. A lot of magic happened there. It was warm, and inviting, and it served our community.
And so, as we begin the process of moving, we want to value and treasure what we had. To do so, we’re putting out a call for photos or short stories that people would like to share about Blackberry Lane, and more specifically about the space that Blackberry Lane operated in at the Hall. These stories and photos will be compiled and shared with the community in a way befitting the documents we receive! To share, please email thebblboard @ gmail.com, or leave in the envelope at the FreePost at Abraxas under BBL.
We are also currently seeking donations of usable lumber and supplies for garden beds or to build a small playhouse. Contact Melisande at 250-703-1387 if you can help. Thank you for all of your support – the children thank you too!
